Halfway
across, but only just started the trip,
much more excitement ahead. |
|
Australia's longest straightest road. |
End of the Nullabor - camels at Norseman. |
Day 07 Crossing the Nullabor was the usual null a boar, but Esperance on the south east coast of WA soon restored calm and tranquility to ICHI Mouse and Purring Pussy, another majestic waterfront area. On to Albany through rolling hills and magnificent farming country. |
Valley of the Giants - treetop walking |
Day 08 After Albany, went treetop walking in the Valley of the Giants, an engineering masterpiece, steel walkways constructed among the tops of giant tingle and karri trees, moves around just like the old rope bridges – fascinating. On through Southern Forests area of old growth forestation containing some of Australia’s tallest trees, then through the rich farming and grazing country of the Blackwood River Valley. Stayed the night on a sheep farm on the plateau at quaint Boyup Brook. |
Day 09 The South West tapestry unfolds through the Margaret River, how this has developed since my first visit in 1968, onto the coast at Busselton where the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere is built a remarkable 2 Klms out into Geographe Bay, from where you can see an immense variety of fish, stunningly beautiful array of coloured soft corals, while watching wild dolphins at play, and talking to the local fisherman as they snare their “catch of the day”. A mecca for snorkeling and scuba diving. |
Denmark - south coast WA |
Dolphins, fish and coral at Busselton jetty - 2km out into Geographe Bay |
Day 10 – 12 Recuperating in Perth from dose of the flu, chance to catch up on some provisions shopping, maintenance and repairs, install new alarm system, old one was flattening battery. Trouble with my medical condition is susceptibility to easily picking up flu etc, still, after Dr’s original diagnosis have made it past June, so now every day is a bonus.
