It was exciting to personally find the headstone of John Hissey at Longworth, along with other Hissey's from 1550, and the bell in the tower engraved with his descendent John Hissey. (By strange coincidence, on my mother's side, Mallaby, there is a bell in the tower at Masham engraved with my Mallaby forebear) |

The many hours spent trawling around Longworth, Wantage, Buttermere and all the Hissey places, for months on end over the years I visited England, was really satisfying. |

Just like Janina Hedger (nee Hissey) and other relatives found, I know all about sitting in Records offices etc. I spent many hours on my trips to England chasing all over the countryside for information - what's so bloody infuriating at times is that they split it all up - I found some info on Maurice Hissey at Reading, but his will is kept at the Devizes office! that was quite a trek one day. |

Meeting distant relatives found thru the course of research, has got to be another thrilling aspect - and discovering that family members peculiarities of a line thrice removed in England, match the same peculiarities of your line here in OZ - now that's uncanny!! |
